okay why don't you start so you probably have a job you need to get to pretty soon
6
7
8
9
10
i'm already on my job so you're you reached me at my job
11
12
13
oh you are
14
oh wonderful well how do you dress for work
15
16
17
my my dress for work uh most of the time is uh rather comfortable and casual
18
19
20
um-hum
21
22
23
uh usually uh slacks and a soft colored shirt
24
the um thing that that distinguishes me a lot of the time when i have to dress real professionally for a meeting or something is i wear a clerical collar
25
26
27
uh-huh
28
29
30
and a suit and uh all of that sort of thing but when i don't need to dress up for a a meeting or a service of some sort i don't
31
32
33
um-hum
34
so you in a church there
35
36
37
yes
38
39
40
uh-huh well i'm working this is my first morning to work down at our little church preschool and they've told me to wear just something terribly comfortable because these are two year olds
41
and they have a lot of uh they they have Bible lessons and they have all the things during the morning but they still have snack time and play time so i'm gonna be dressing just in casual slacks and T-shirts
42
probably not blue jeans but little bit short of that just just tennis shoes and play clothes
43
44
45
well around there you can probably wear uh T-shirts and other things but around here at this time of the year we are into sweaters and uh coats
46
47
48
yeah
49
i'm envious well it's a beautiful day here and it's in the sixties but we still have a lot of hot afternoons it's supposed to be eighty five today
50
so you'll still see people it's a it's kind of an in between change they're they're in their play clothes i mean they're in their summer clothes during the afternoons
51
because you just can't stand the sweaters but in the mornings people are dressing for work in their sweaters because they just want it to be fall so badly
52
53
54
today today we we wear coats and as the day uh warms up we may go to light jackets but i don't think there's an escape from light jackets
55
56
57
58
59
do you
60
i understand
61
62
63
the wind will take away a lot of body heat
64
65
66
well so are the people around you um uh dressing similar to you
67
68
69
very similar
70
71
72
um-hum so you don't have a you don't have to buy the lot of the wardrobe that some of the people in banking and that kind of thing do
73
74
75
no i'm not stuck with that kind of a uh situation
76
77
78
well that's good
79
that's good
80
81
82
as i say unless it happens to be now yesterday i had to dress up and and um be more formal because i had a a formal meeting at noon time
83
84
85
um-hum
86
87
88
but then i can go home later in the day and and be a little more casual
89
90
91
well that's wonderful
92
93
94
and then if i have a a a meeting of people that i know i can be very casual in the evening
95
96
97
well my husband has to take the bus into Dallas and doesn't return all day so he has to dress
98
and he's just really hates that they have the long sleeve shirts and the whole tie and the whole suit
99
and even when his job is not gonna be with people all day long he said it's just part of the uniform and the expected image that they have to dress
100
101
102
yeah that's around here in a lot of places that's the way it is i mean there there are expected expected uh dress codes
103
104
105
um-hum
106
um-hum
107
108
109
and the people need to follow that i think uh years ago i used to be far more uh committed to the idea of of a dress code but i've
110
111
112
um-hum
113
114
115
relaxed a lot more as i've gotten older and become more comfortable with myself
116
117
118
well i think that's i think that's great i think that's good
119
120
121
it's taken a long time to break away from from that but now that i've broken away from it i'm i'm glad i have
122
123
124
i understand
125
well another interesting thing on the our our end here is how even even in my forties how much younger i dress than my mother would have in her forties
126
and i will uh run around to the store and things in slacks and tennis shoes and she
127
128
129
you mean you don't need to wear little old house dresses anymore
130
131
132
right and pearls and she would not have even probably owned a pair of tennis shoes after she got out of high school so uh she tells me i dress young but that's okay keeps me young
133
134
135
136
137
that's a good idea that's a good idea
138
139
140
well there's not a lot more i can think of to discuss on clothing
141
142
143
no they're you know what
144
145
146
so i i guess this is what you call a natural end
147
148
149
yeah what kind what kind of shoes do they wear down there
150
151
152
well we wear uh course um like i said if if my husband's going downtown he's got the whole uh
153
you know the dress men's dress shoes
154
155
156
um-hum
157
158
159
but for as out here just anything that the moms we all kind of have our own little dress code of just either tennis shoes or little loafers and and uh tights and things that feel comfortable to us around our kids
160
161
162
we we can wear pretty much that although um tennis shoes are kind of out in in almost every every situation
163
164
165
yeah i'm sure they are there yeah i'm sure they are
166
167
168
unless you wanna look like a gook
169
170
171
that's right i'm sure that's true it's a lot different than working in a kid's preschool that's right well you all have a nice day there
172
173
174
a lot different
175
you too and thank you for calling um-hum bye
176
177
178
thank you very much bye-bye
