have any great vacation spots to share with me
6
7
8
9
10
uh well most
11
12
13
14
15
16
17
i'm fifty three most of my big vacations i think are probably in the past i've been you know to Europe a couple of times and
18
19
20
oh boy
21
22
23
and to
24
25
26
where in Europe
27
28
29
Rio huh
30
31
32
where in Europe did you go
33
34
35
oh okay uh England uh Holland France
36
uh one of the interesting most interesting ones was Berlin we were there for five years and this was back in eighty five before you know the wall came down
37
38
39
wow
40
41
42
so that was very interesting to go into
43
you know a Communist country and all that course it's kind of laughable now but you know that's the way it was then
44
45
46
that's not
47
you say you were there for five years
48
49
50
five days i'm
51
52
53
oh five days uh-huh
54
55
56
five days
57
my husband's brother was the commander of the Air Force base in Berlin
58
59
60
uh-huh uh-huh
61
62
63
and so we were visiting them
64
65
66
i'm sorry i interrupted you you was always saying also saying that you'd gone to Rio
67
68
69
yeah uh another brother all my my brothers and sisters used to live in all these interesting places uh they're all retired and back in the states now but one lived in Rio and that was
70
71
72
that's wonderful
73
74
75
we went there for about ten days and that was quite a beautiful place
76
77
78
um-hum
79
80
81
and uh so
82
83
84
so a lot lot of your big vacations have been international
85
86
87
to
88
yeah and to visit relatives my brother worked lived in Jamaica for a number of years so we went there you know for a week so uh
89
90
91
that's wonderful
92
93
94
and
95
96
97
do you like to travel domestically as well do you do you take vacations around the country now
98
99
100
uh yes uh-huh in fact that's probably where we'll go in the remaining years we'll probably just stay right here in this country for some we i think we could afford more back then than we can now
101
102
103
uh-huh
104
105
106
107
108
we're caught in this economic crunch
109
110
111
yes i can relate to that
112
113
114
we also had a time share condo if you're familiar with those so we used and it was our home unit was in Vail Colorado
115
116
117
oh yes
118
119
120
and then if you didn't want to go there you could switch and go actually anywhere anywhere in the world and
121
122
123
did you ski when you were there
124
in Vail
125
126
127
uh
128
yeah a little but we waited we were too old when we started going to really learn the you know like our children learned well and skied well but you know
129
130
131
uh-huh uh-huh
132
133
134
you that's something you really i think should learn when you're younger
135
136
137
138
139
140
141
you know you wait until you're forty five and start learning to ski well then you're afraid you're going to break something
142
143
144
it's true it's true
145
146
147
now i've done all the talking you tell me what you've done
148
149
150
yours are much more exciting than mine um i think probably finances have limited us um primarily my family um
151
because i'm the oldest when i left
152
um my family went on some really fun vacations so it's more the things that i've done with my husband and and more recently our child that uh
153
that we that i could probably talk about
154
155
156
well you're much younger what age are you
157
158
159
well i'm not actually i just started my family younger i mean started my family later um
160
161
162
oh
163
164
165
i'm thirty six and my daughter's only
166
167
168
well that is young go ahead
169
170
171
my
172
well but my daughter's only two so at my age i think that my my mother
173
i mean when my mother was my age i think that i was probably twelve or something like that
174
175
176
yeah but but that was the trend back then you know
177
178
179
180
181
182
183
you had your children in the early twenties
184
185
186
it
187
right
188
at any rate we've really enjoyed camping vacations i think that that's probably the thing that we've uh done most each year probably four to seven times a year we'll take short short little vacations maybe three days maybe four days
189
190
191
oh
192
193
194
and there's so many places in the San Francisco Bay area that you can camp that you don't really have to go very far you can drive as little as an hour and get into a redwood forest and feel like you're just
195
196
197
oh and such beautiful country up around you
198
199
200
it is really nice to have that very close
201
um there are some places up the coast near Mendocino and in Marin that have what they call environmental cabins so
202
you can rent them fairly inexpensively and stay a couple nights and feel like you have a little beach house getaway
203
204
205
oh
206
207
208
so we've done that a few times too you know it's very rustic you don't you bring all your own things and you bring your your your cooler almost as if you were camping but there's a stove and there's a
209
210
211
right
212
213
214
a table and and uh platforms for your bed mattress and that sort of thing so it's somewhat set up
215
those we've really enjoyed i think what i'd like to do when our daughter's a little older
216
217
218
oh
219
220
221
and if we have other kids its uh the kind of club made med vacations that my husband and i enjoyed several years ago because there's so many different activities
222
223
224
um-hum and and they you can take children now can't you
225
226
227
yes they call them club kids
228
229
230
yeah okay i knew i knew something about that uh-huh
231
232
233
234
235
yes they have all kinds of art activities and sports that are tailored for kids and babysitters if you have children that are you know infants
236
237
238
239
