This section introduces commands applicable to the content of the Functions unit.  We need to learn how to graph the following types of functions:

  1. Space curves
  2. Functions of several variables and contour plots
  3. Vector Fields
  4. Transformations
  5. Parametric Surfaces

As you draw these objects by hand, use the computer to help you visualize what you are doing. I don't expect you to become a perfect artist this semester, but I do expect you to be able to create rough sketches of all of the objects in this unit, or at least describe what each object looks like in words.

I have split this up into two parts because sometimes your web browser runs out of memory displaying lots of 3d plots.  If you'd like to know how to increase the memory your browser uses for the 3d plots, let me know.

  1. Cylinders and Parametric Curves
  2. Surfaces, Contour plots, and Vector field plots
