and how's your weather been
6
7
8
9
10
well my weather right now is rainy uh this is the most rain i think we've ever seen uh over a twelve month period of time since i moved to to uh to the Texas area
11
um i was uh i've seen climates both rather arid and and and complete and total uh tropical so i've seen kind of the gamut but this is starting to lean towards the uh the tropical end how about you
12
13
14
well this is getting to be uh similar to the reason i moved away from Saint Louis all these gray gloomy rainy days you know
15
16
17
oh my uh-huh
18
19
20
but uh i've been here for about uh well it's going on five years now and this is definitely the rainiest January February
21
22
23
uh-huh oh this is this is a neat year you missed the nineteen eighty eighty one uh uh mess
24
the nineteen eighty summer that about roasted everybody and then the eighty one spring that uh where practically every lake in uh North North Texas overflowed
25
26
27
well i thought it was bad enough about four years ago when we had the was it three or four years ago when we had the big ice storm
28
29
30
31
32
i mean we
33
oh yes ma'am well that was that was pretty good uh however the one in seventy nine and uh and uh seventy eight and seventy nine uh dwarfed that one
34
35
36
yeah
37
you've been here a while then
38
39
40
yes ma'am since uh you know i have been well the firm i am with uh i've been with them them for twenty three years so and they are in the North Texas area
41
42
43
oh okay
44
45
46
so uh
47
yeah i have seen quite a bit of of weather uh patterns of course like i say uh when i was in the service i got to see plenty of um
48
different uh locals as far as wet and dry uh climates and uh
49
uh i was kind of like you i'm i didn't want to go back to Colorado because of the different because of the tremendous weather we had
50
51
52
53
54
gosh i think you're the first person from Colorado i have ever heard that didn't say oh it's wonderful it's so dry here
55
56
57
um no no no
58
59
60
well this actually isn't far enough south for me
61
62
63
oh okay
64
65
66
i would like to get down to oh Tampa some place like that where
67
68
69
Tampa Florida
70
71
72
at least yes
73
74
75
uh-huh well let's see my in-laws uh winter in uh the Leesburg area
76
77
78
is that down the coast of Florida
79
80
81
well it's uh in the Orlando area
82
83
84
okay
85
86
87
and Tampa Saint Petersburg is not that super far away
88
89
90
no i think it's a couple hours drive if i
91
92
93
yeah something like that i think we made to from their house to uh Bush Gardens in ninety minutes that day
94
95
96
uh you may have been speeding a little bit though
97
98
99
no no no no no no no not not at that not down that uh uh tollway they've got
100
101
102
i see
103
104
105
they're they're smokies you think our smokies are bad with with uh uh our uh little Mustangs that are hot rods they got them there too oh yeah
106
107
108
is that right
109
110
111
112
113
i know we uh were uh
114
over run by one in uh we went down for Christmas and we were cruising cruising along in our little rental car and uh this this this car comes over the hill and pass me and it was one of those
115
puppies and he was flat moving
116
117
118
do they arrest people there uh unlike Dallas
119
120
121
yeah yeah he's he he pulled one he pulled one over and was uh steady having a little chat about something other than the weather that's for sure
122
123
124
125
126
127
128
because i mean he didn't look happy when we went by
129
130
131
132
133
134
135
so i don't know maybe it was uh
136
who knows but anyway this weather here is is certainly evolved from a from a dryer hotter uh nineteen eighty
137
to uh the present the the last summer we had i think we barely what cleared a hundred
138
139
140
maybe
141
142
143
i think that was stretching it
144
145
146
well uh i'll tell you i will definitely take the hot summers
147
148
149
oh well believe you me i'm not not advocating cold summers no no no no no no no wrong wrong wrong but uh
150
151
152
153
154
155
156
157
158
uh the summer of nineteen eighty we saw one hundred fifteen and one hundred sixteen and i was running a little heating and air-conditioning business at the time
159
160
161
no kidding
162
i'll bet you just did all kinds of business
163
164
165
well uh
166
what happened there was that most of our customer everybody's customers uh down here about April start to call call everybody you know call their their local guys
167
168
169
um-hum
170
171
172
and we go out and tune up the systems
173
174
175
um-hum
176
177
178
and we are normally expecting some a hundred hundred degree days so we tune for that
179
180
181
um-hum
182
183
184
so we had everybody nice in tune when the hundred and fifteen degree weather hit
185
186
187
yes
188
189
190
and so what the only thing that got replaced were the weak systems
191
you know that would barely make it at one hundred but when the hundred and fifteen degree days hit well it just couldn't couldn't handle the load and they then they then the compressors blew like popcorn
192
193
194
oh i'll bet
195
196
197
i mean just this pop pop bang bang
198
199
200
201
202
203
204
205
